Looking for something to do in Dallas? You won’t have to look far. From sports events to amusement parks, you can find something to do almost any day of the year. All you have to do is search the Internet or open a local newspaper for information on the latest events or check out the information listed here.

Dallas recreation includes lots of parks as well. There are beautiful state parks all over Texas, and the state is renowned for its rec centers, activities, and golf courses. Want professional sports? Dallas has a huge share of professional sports teams as well as semi-pro and amateur.

Dallas Sports

Dallas has many local professional sports teams, covering every area of popular sports events. Here is a list of the pro teams and their affiliations:

There are also other sports events as well, like The Dallas Harlequins rugby team, minor league baseball team called the Frisco Roughriders, and the Dallas Diamonds, a women’s professional football team. For the more popular, well known teams, make sure you call or purchase tickets in advance—often there are sell outs for certain games.

Dallas Amusement Parks

Sandy Lake Amusement Park is a longtime favorite of Dallas residents. There is a huge selection of rides as well as other entertainment. You can play miniature golf, have a birthday party, or rent the area for a business meeting or youth group. Six Flags Over Texas is a large amusement park located in the Arlington area, and boasts all the rides and fun you have come to expect from Six Flags. Nearby in Arlington is Hurricane Harbor, a water park that is part of the Six Flags Park.

Dallas Parks, Lakes, and Golf

Cedar Hills State Park is one of the more popular parks for area residents, and offers camping, hiking, boating, bicycle paths, and a large lake with a marina. There is lots of water-based wildlife in the area, so bring your binoculars.

Feel like golf? Texas boasts some of the nation’s finest golf courses, and several are located in the Dallas area. You can take your pick of these popular golf courses or other smaller ones:

  • Cedar Crest Park Golf Course
  • Keeton Park Golf Course
  • Stevens Park Golf Course

And if you just feel like hanging out at one of the many Dallas parks, you will find plenty of hiking, cycling paths, playgrounds, barbecue areas and picnic spots. There are lots of smaller lakes in these parks and you can also canoe, kayak, swim, paddle boat with the young kiddies, and much more. Or, you can simply find a place with a playground and listen to your little ones giggle. Whatever you are in the mood for, you can find it in Dallas.
