Flower Mound , Texas

Flower Mound is a suburb of Dallas, just northwest of the city near Grapevine Lake. The city’s master plan was developed in the late 1990s and involved the efforts of citizens and officials alike. This has made Flower Mound one of the most family-friendly areas to live in the DFW area.

Flower Mound Parker Square
The Flower Mound Community

The community developed a master plan that covers several areas of Flower Mound. These areas contain plans for all phases of development, from urban design planning to water and land use maps. The Parks and Recreation District is a big part of that master plan, and there are provisions for a Park Services Division that maintains the parks, trails, schools, neighborhoods, playgrounds, horse trails, and more. These parks have areas for court sports, soccer, baseball, and picnics. There is also a division that organizes activities and events year-round, including the Independence Day Children’s Parade, marathon races, Memorial Day Ceremony, Christmas Parade, and more.

Schoolchildren are served by the Lewisville Independent School District, a thirteen-community district that includes areas of Plano, Copper Canyon, The Colony, and
other surrounding areas.  The district takes keen advantage of the local arts opportunities as well as the science and nature museums and art displays in the DFW area.

Flower Mound Real Estate

Much of the real estate in Flower Mound is upscale new construction, with prices ranging from the $300,000s to the millions. A few of these areas are self-contained communities with their own amenities and advantages.

Flower Mound Activities and Recreation

Although you are only a short drive away from Dallas, you can also find plenty to do in Flower Mound itself. Two of the popular activities for arts lovers are attending concerts by the Flower Mound Chamber Orchestra and free Summer Concerts in the Park. There are other summer activities as well, such as fireworks displays, parades, festivals, and the GOS Adventure, a treasure map-style hunt for GPS markers that are set up throughout the town. All you need is a GPS receiver, map, and scorecard, and you’re ready to roll.

Because Flower Mound is located between Grapevine Lake and Lake Lewisville, you have plenty of opportunity to get some water sports under your belt before summer is over. You can canoe, kayak, hike the lakes, camp, fish, and swim.

Flower Mound Library
The Flower Mound Park system is a large collection of area fields, greenbelt-type areas, and picnic grounds, some covered. Totally, there are 544 acres available in the system, and you can play tennis, soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball, as well as just spend a day cooking on one of the many grills provided.

And don’t forget, you are only a short drive away from Dallas and the entertainment the city has to offer. There are always concerts, art exhibits, and other major events going on in town. You can see professional sports from five major men’s teams, as well as several professional women’s sports teams.

And if you don’t feel like sports, there is always shopping. Dallas boasts some of the west’s most beautiful and upscale shopping experiences.
