McKinney is one of the Dallas suburban area’s fastest growing communities, and residents are some of the most affluent and well-educated in the area. The small-town feel makes you think you are miles and miles away from Dallas, and yet you are within a short drive of the nightlife and culture the city has to offer. The great thing is when you come home, you come home to a quiet, high quality lifestyle without the hustle and bustle of the city life.

McKinney is divided into other neighborhoods and communities. They each have their own selection of architectural styles and atmospheres, as well as amenities. A few McKinney neighborhoods that you may wish to learn more about include, Stonebridge Ranch, Craig Ranch and El Dorado:

McKinney Country Club

Stonebridge Ranch

This is one of the fine, master planned communities in the McKinney area, and was developed by Newland Communities. Newland was careful to take the historical and traditional aspects of the area to heart when they designed Stonebridge Ranch. Their approach to the long-term development of a community has made Newland one of the most popular developers in the area.

Stonebridge Ranch sports a Country Club with two golf courses, a Beach and Tennis Club, and some of the area’s best schools. There are also lots of trails where you can ride to walk, and a quiet country lifestyle to raise your family.

Craig Ranch

This is one of the more affordable communities, and was designed with the family in mind that is stepping up in their lifestyle. You can also find townhomes at Craig Ranch, a perfect solution for the busy, single professional who wants quiet country living without the responsibility of a single family home. Most homes in Craig Ranch are between $300,000 and $500,000. Their designs and urban multi-purpose building concepts won Craig Ranch the 2001 American Planning Association Project Planning Award (Texas), and was designed for community interaction while downplaying the need for cars.

El Dorado

El Dorado is a more mature neighborhood in the McKinney area, and is reported to be the first area developed in McKinney. It is proud of its blue ribbon school, as well as the El Dorado Country Club. One of the features of the suburb is the light festival during the Christmas season, when the various neighborhoods compete for the prize for the best lighting. McKinney homes are available in many different price ranges, so if you are looking for something in McKinney that’s more affordable, be sure to look at El Dorado.

Remember that McKinney in general is a great place to raise a family, and many people come here just because it’s so family and child-oriented. It has top schools that are part of the award-winning Texas schools, a strong arts culture, plenty of major sports events, museums, festivals, and more. When you settle in McKinney, you are settling into Small Town Main Street America, yet you are only minutes away from the culture of a large U.S. city and world-class employers. McKinney is an escape without putting you far away from where you need to be.
