Does your kid like to skate, grind, blade or ride their bike a little faster than you’re comfortable with? Well, their life is about to get a little better if they live in Stonebridge Ranch, located in McKinney Texas. Stonebridge Ranch is considering to build a skate park on a sizable, open piece of real estate in Stonebridge Ranch just south of their Aquatic Center.
Homeowners in Stonebridge Ranch have argued that the park areas don’t accommodate older children and I’d be the first to agree. I live in Stonebridge Ranch and it is an amazing place for family but teens do not always want to hand out with the family (surprise). I think this is a fantastic idea! Even my 7 year old would love to ride his board in a real skate park as would almost every other kid on my block.
As for business, this is a bonus. Businesses prefer that youth not linger and grind on their property so this may help relieve some of that stress and inconvenience to business owners and customers. I love that this is an amenity that’s geared towards (please forgive me) the “under served and often mischievous age group”. Not to mention the long term costs are much lower than many of the alternatives and unlike another pool, this can be open all year… well almost, who likes to ride their bike or skateboard on ice?

Build a skate park on open Stonebridge Ranch property for roller blading, skate boarding and bike riding designed to attract middle and high school children. The amenity would include some additional parking, lighting, wrought iron fence, covered sitting areas and the skate park with street elements, rails, ramps and bowls.
I think this is wonderful and can’t wait for this to be implemented.
