Heard’s spring events continue with their Green Living Family Festival April 26 (9-5) & April 27 (1-5). Saturday, April 26th is a WFAA-TV’s Family First Day for the McKinney Community featuring News 8 personalities and giveaways, and Sunday, April 27th is KLTY Radio day. McKinney ‘s families will be entertained by the sounds of nature and by musical guests while they visit “green-friendly” vendors and enjoy a free children’s petting zoo, jump on an inflatable slide and experience Heard’s new Animals of the World, A Conservation Exhibit.

The Heard Sanctuary has so much to offer visitors to the McKinney area including four miles of self-guided or interpreted nature trails; an amazing display of flora and fragrance native to the McKinney area as well as to the Lone Star State in the Native Plant Garden; an Education Department offering guided nature trails, live animal presentations, a Moppets Pre-School program, home school science classes, summer camps & adult/teacher/ laboratory workshops.

McKinney’s residents and visitors will love visiting the many exhibits at Heard which supply a wealth of information on Texas’ venomous snakes; rocks, minerals and fossils; seashells and marine life; North Texas ecosystems, etc. Children will especially enjoy the walk-through wetland diorama, their own children’s fossil dig and marine room, and the Living Lab is where students learn hands-on about various specimens.
