Celebrate Life at McKinney’s Heard Museum

There’s no better way for the residents of McKinney Texas to celebrate every day as Earth Day this spring and summer than by visiting McKinney’s own Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s will host a Spring Native Plant Sale April 11, 4-7 (members only); April 12 & 13 - (open to the public, regular business hours) with April 13 a free admission day for McKinney residents (present valid ID on driver’s license or McKinney water bill). Heard’s spring events continue with their Green Living Family Festival April 26 (9-5) & April 27 (1-5). Saturday, April 26th is a WFAA-TV’s Family First Day for the McKinney Community featuring News 8 personalities and giveaways, and Sunday, April 27th is KLTY Radio day. McKinney ‘s families will be entertained by the sounds of nature and by musical guests while they visit “green-friendly” vendors and enjoy a free children’s petting zoo, jump on an inflatable slide and experience Heard’s new Animals of the World, A Conservation Exhibit.

McKinney is Growing Rapidly! McKinney Area Update

McKinney Texas has been growing rapidly and the developers have done an amazing job in keeping the area beautifully laid out. Below is a list of changes that have been made since January 1st of this year.

John and Judy Gay Library at Gabe Nesbitt Park in McKinney, located along the South side of Eldorado Parkway and East of Alma Road.

Collin County Community College District, 125,000 Square Foot Education Facility, located along the North side of Spur 399 and West of Medical Center Drive in McKinney Texas.

Baylor Medical Center at McKinney, on approximately 57.75 Acres of Real Estate in McKinney, located on the Northwest corner of F.M. 1461 (Lake Forest Drive) and U.S. Highway 380 (University Drive).

Cornerstone Worship Center, 17,615 Square Foot Worship Center, on approximately 12 Acres of Real Estate, located North of Wilmeth Road and along the East side of C.R. 943 in McKinney.

Taste of Collin County in McKinney Texas

McKinney, Texas will be host to Habitat for Humanity’s annual “Taste of Collin County” on Feb. 25th at Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney. This year’s theme will be “Beach Party” and guests will sample amazing dishes from several premium Collin County restaurants — each vying for bragging rights as a celebrity-judged competition will crown the year’s winner.

In addition to the delicious food, McKinney residents and their guests will be treated to excellent entertainment provided by nationally-known artists Troy Allen, Ian Dickson and Jimmy Barcus; plus a live and a silent auction.

McKinney TX, Taste of Collin CountyChurches, organizations and individuals are invited to partner with North Collin County’s Habitat for Humanity by donating creative baskets for raffle. Proceeds will exclusively benefit the McKinney Texas and North Collin County area. Donations are also welcomed for the live and silent auctions. Please list items and their approximate values, wrap up in plastic and drop off at the Habitat for Humanity office by Feb. 21st.

This McKinney TX annual event raises thousands of dollars to benefit Habitat’s mission of building decent affordable housing for God’s people in need. With the money raised from the event, Habitat plans to build six to ten more homes in the North Collin County area. The organization recently dedicated its 32nd home in the area and has two more under construction.
