The Frisco Parks and Recreation Dept is the winner of the 2006 Texas Recreation and Parks Society (aka TRAPS) Gold Medal Award for “Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management”. The City of Frisco manages twenty-seven park sites on 568 acres. Frisco also owns over 744 acres of undeveloped land, which will be constructed in the very near future. Frisco also has a new Frisco Athletic Center, which sits on nineteen acres at Preston Road and Wade Blvd and covers over 100,000 square feet to include 18,000 square feet of indoor aquatic and approx 40,000 square feet of outdoor aquatic features.

Frisco Sports
Home to numerous major and minor league teams, Frisco is truly a sports-lover’s paradise. The Texas League AA minor league baseball team, Frisco Rough Riders, play in Frisco at the award-winning Dr Pepper Ballpark. If the warm Texas weather puts you in the mood for some ice, the Dallas Stars National Hockey League is headquartered in Frisco and the team practices at the Deja Blue Arena there. The Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League have been based in Frisco since the fall of 2003, and shortly after the NAHL moved its main offices to Frisco. The Frisco Thunder of the Intense Football League plays at the Deja Blue Arena. FC Dallas (formerly the Dallas Burn), a Major League Soccer team who formerly played at Dallas' Cotton Bowl, moved their home to Pizza Hut Park in Frisco in August 2005. A major international youth soccer tournament, The Dallas Cup, is hosted in Frisco annually and draws teams from around the world. As if all this hockey, baseball, football, and soccer wasn’t enough, Frisco is also home of the Superdrome, one of the top outdoor velodromes for cycling in the nation. The City of Frisco is famous for its passion for art! Driving around Frisco you quickly realize you are surrounded by bronze cattle drives depicting the Shawnee Trail, artwork from around the world, and a one-of-a-kind Texas Sculpture Garden. The largest private collection of contemporary outdoor sculpture on public display can be found in Hall Office Park (all owned by Craig Hall) with works by James Surls, Frances Bagley and Isaac Smith.
Frisco is also home to a multitude of performing arts companies including the Collin County Ballet Theatre, Frisco Area Children’s Theater, Frisco Chorale, Frisco Community Band, and others. The Frisco Association for the Arts serves as an umbrella organization to coordinate with the various arts groups in Frisco, and is a great place to learn about all of the opportunities to experience fantastic art in Frisco.
